Shimmy Studio

Shimmy Studio offers belly dance and burlesque fitness classes to all level dancers ages 18 and up (or 14 and up with parental consent). Our mission is to offer a stress free escape to have fun while getting fit! We want our students to feel confident and empowered both in and outside of our classes.

 

Classes are lead by goddesslife certified instructor Paris Richardson. Paris is a former athlete with a strong background in cheer. Paris graduated from the University of Arkansas with a bachelors in kinesiology and a concentration in pre-professional studies. Prior to becoming certified with goddesslife, Paris took an interest in belly dancing and fell in love with it! Now she finds happiness in sharing belly dance with others as an enjoyable way to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Our belly dance fitness class uses basic movements from many different styles of belly dance. Technique will be discussed in order to achieve the most from your workout. However, the goal is to move and have fun, not to strive to be perfect! Therefore, coordination is not a requirement. Come to class in comfortable workout attire (coin skirts and zills are welcome). If you do not come already wearing a smile, we will make sure that you leave with one!

Burlesque, as we know and love today, was originated by three notable (notorious in their day) belly dancers known as "little egypt". These belly dancers popularized the "shimmy and shake" which was then called the "hoochie coochie". In this class we honor this fun and sensuous art form while achieving a great workout and embracing our beautiful femininity! Dress comfortably and get ready to shimmy, bump, and shake!

*4 week class $32(bring a friend and only pay $28 each!)

 

*8 week class $40 (bring a friend and only pay $35 each!)
